Pica's Restaurant of Upper Darby, located at 7803 West Chester Pike, is a cherished establishment known for its signature "upside-down" pizza—cheese on the bottom and sauce on top. Many patrons rave about the crispy, thick crust that balances golden edges with a satisfying chew, making it an iconic choice in the Philly area. The freshness of toppings and quality of ingredients contribute to its beloved status, although some diners note occasional inconsistency in topping distribution. The menu offers a delightful range of traditional Italian specialties, including baked rigatoni and stuffed sausage shells, appealing to those seeking comfort food. Salad lovers can enjoy various options, such as the Chicken Caesar and Greek Salad, perfect for a lighter meal alongside their famous square pizza. The ambiance at Pica's exudes a friendly, nostalgic vibe, often described as a blend of old-school charm with modern casual comfort—ideal for families and gatherings. Patrons appreciate the welcoming staff, with many pointing out exceptional service experiences. While heartwarming reviews reminisce about decades of memories at this iconic spot, impending closure of the original location has sparked urgency among fans to savor the unforgettable dishes one last time. Pica's is a culinary staple in Upper Darby and a must-try before it shifts focus to its newer locations.

Crispy crust, signature upside-down sauce, and a fancy but normal vibe make Pica’s a must-try. It's a very good upside down slice and it also has very fresh toppings. If you are in the Philly area you should give it a try. First off, the crust is the best part. It’s thick, square, but not burned and too doughy. It’s got a crisp, golden edge that makes it very good. Now, the cheese and sauce, they do an upside-down thing where the cheese goes on first and the sauce is on top. It’s very good and kind of what they're known for. But sometimes the slice has too much sauce and it overpowers the whole thing.I wanna taste the cheese, not just the sauce. The sauce is very good but sometimes it can be too much. Toppings are fresh and they taste very good. But some of the slices feel like they didn't try to put on the topping and feel like they’re just tossed on there. The vibes and the workers are very nice. It’s got an old-school but also like a normal joint too. It's very casual, friendly staff, and good for pickup or eating in though if you go during a busy time, it can get a little hard to get pizzas. When we got there it was very busy because it is shutting down soon. The booths and chairs were comfortable and the lighting was perfect.

Our favorite pizza. So many amazing memories here through the years. Tons of family occasions.

We've been here a few times over the years. Pizza is special! Crumbled sausage is delicious and sauce is great. Theirs is cheese on the bottom sauce on top (upside down pizza). It's lovely for families or couples. Joan was our server and couldn't have been nicer! The bar was pretty dark, wasn't sure if they were seating there or not, which was a little strange.

No pics, cuz you don't need them. Did you love square tomato pie as a kid? Then this will rock you back to your childhood, delivering a quiet, private moment of ethereal bliss, no joke. It's exactly what you were seeking: perfect crispy bottom, not TOO thick of dough, delicious mozz, topped w the most incredible OG pizza sauce. Perfect size for 2-4 ppl to share. Unfortunately, there is bad news: they are closing this iconic location as beloved as it is to the locals, they are going to focus all efforts into the new location, (newtown, I think?) and their 2nd location in west chester. But this was where it all began, some 40yrs ago, with a traditional recipe that has been unchanged for decades, and I pray never does!! 1000% try before they close the original one down for good!! And support their other locations if you are in the area!! Excellent, Pico's, thanks for all the years here!!

Went here for my bday and we had a great experience. The waitress Connie was super nice and a perfect server! Thank you Connie.... atmosphere was typical 80s Picas UD style and that's why I came! I love the old school Italian neighborhood vibe..... food was amazing as usual and portions huge for the price. Would definitely come back! Plenty of parking in lot... kid friendly- very nice to my son.

This was my 2nd time eating at Pica UD. First was a funeral, well done. I brought my Mom here after our trip to the Flower Show. We had a nice relaxed dinner. Started out sharing stuffed mushrooms. They were not my favorite, mushrooms were tough. Mom liked them so maybe it was just me. The bread/rolls were so fresh and the peppers were the best I've ever had. Mom had Fettuccine with crab, and scallops, a huge portion. I had salmon & baked potatoes and veggies. We both had a drink from the bar. Everything was very tasty. My mom's meal was delayed for some reason in the kitchen but we were okay with that, we weren't pressed for time. I must add, that it was our server's night. A Friday night too. She did an excellent job. She is beautiful inside and out. Her smile was so genuine. We didn't have any issues but the table next to us did (the wrong salad and the soup had no meatballs). She handled it all so well, even with getting anxious on her first night (who doesn't want all to go perfectly). But that's life, nothing is perfect. DeShiah (may be spelled wrong) is an asset to Pica's team. We left feeling like we had a very good meal, the atmosphere was nice, not loud, clean, friendly staff and who doesn't want an excellent server! Thank you, we will be back! (And no, I do not know DeShiah personally, first time meeting her).

My father would go there every Friday we llive down the block. I started to get it again two years ago and it hasn’t changed the greatest pizza I’ve ever had in my life and my children love it. I’m happy to Have the family tradition continue with them. and still, the only pizza you can eat out of the refrigerator for leftovers

Pica's Restaurant of Upper Darby has very professional staff members that can handle a rush of customers and still provide high quality food. The pizzas are amazing(My opinion). This pizza place is definitely more on the high end of quality pizzas and other foods.
